Tokyo Disneyland

Morning,

Disneyland is one of my absolute favourite places in the whole world!!  I could spend days and days there! Sorry to say we had just over half a day there on this trip.....

I have created two pages of Disney goodness to show you - first of all I would like to talk about some of my reasons for scrapbooking the way that I do.   Since the digital camera has entered my life - (eek thinking about it - 10 years ago - shhh) I must have taken a squillion photos!  So every now and then - not as often as I would like (sound familiar) I print out a few selected photos, scrapbook them and place them in albums for memory purposes - it is really enjoyable to sit down and peruse these albums.  Also I like to collect postcards, brochures, tickets, other cards etc from trips or outings I have been on and create pages with these - which is what I have used to create these two layouts.

Inspiration:  "Trinkets", stickers and postcards....

Collectors Cards, stickers and a photo.

To create these layouts, first, choose your background paper - I have chosen Graphic 45 - Bird Song Collection - Longevity.  With this sort of scrapbooking - memorabilia -  there is so many bits and pieces and there is already a lot of colour - I needed to choose a background paper that was not too 'busy'.

With this many elements to be placed on my layouts there was no need for any more embellishments other than what I had already collected. So, it was just a case of decide where you would like to place what and adhere them down!

I double layered the background page with a red layer and a yellow layer to draw your attention to the colours in the '30' as it is Tokyo Disneylands' 30th Year.

The "Happiness" Year.

Products used for these layouts:
  •
  • Graphic 45 - Bird Song Collection - Longevity
  • Red and yellow plain 12x12 papers
  • Rhinestones

Thanks for visiting!

Alice's Wardrobe....

Hi there,

Tea Party, Rabbit Hole, Wonderland, Alice....  Visions of a White Rabbit in a hurry, Alice reading, Alice shrinking and growing, Mad Hatters having a tea party.... Yes, I am talking about that Alice - Alice in Wonderland.

Have you seen any of the gorgeous Marion Smith Designs papers?  I was inspired for this project by one of the papers in the 6x6 Mad Tea Party range.

Isn't she gorgeous?  Do you remember the dress up paper doll cut-outs from when you were a child? I do! How much fun were they??

My next thought was that Alice needed a wardrobe and what could be better than one of Graphic 45s ATC Book Boxes? Perfect size!  So from being inspired by paper cut-outs and a Book Box 'wardrobe' this is what I created...

Prima Princess & Donna Salazar Inx!

Hi everyone, Sue here today to share a layout I created using the recently released “Princess” collection from Prima Marketing. This collection is based around a beautiful soft colour palette, sweet images, and is just so deliciously gorgeous & feminine.

Here is my layout...

To create this layout I started with a sheet of Prima -Princess 'Ava' for my background. I trimmed it down to 11x11” and distressed the edges. I then swiped some gesso over the area I was planning to place my photo & embellishments and applied some texture paste using a mask. Once dry, I added colour.

To achieve this look, I started by making my own colour mist using the Donna Salazar Mix’d Media Inx - Refill – Adobe and a Ranger Inkssentials Mini Mister. I filled the mister with water, added about 8 drops of the ink and shook to combine. (I was able to use water as a base for my spray as these are pigment inks that are water soluble. How many drops you add will depend on how rich you want the colour.) I then spritzed it onto my background, along with some glimmer mist in a slightly different shade to add depth.

After the colour was dry, I mounted my background sheet on some cardstock, added extra paper layers & some gauze under my photo and then embellished my layout.

The flowers I used included Prima Princess – Fairytale Flowers and Kaisercraft Paper Blooms in Honey, Sage and Olive. (The tiny white flowers were from my own stash.)

I also used some of the Prima Mixed Media Doll Metal Embellishments and chipboard from Dusty Attic. The mini vines were painted with the Donna Salazar Inx, whilst the Love You Arrow was first primed with gesso, then sprayed using the ink spray I made earlier.

If you are a fan of gorgeous & girly then I highly recommend you check out the Prima Marketing Princess Collection, or you could try making your own colour sprays. You will find the Inkssentials Mini Misters in store HERE and a huge range of inks available HERE. (I used the Donna Salazar Mix’d MediaInx Refill, but the Ranger Distress Re-inkers would work well too.)

Until next time, happy scrapping!
Cheers,
Sue P

Hi,

Graphic 45's designs are just so amazingly beautiful.  The Bird Song Collection has always been one of the most beautiful collections I have seen!  So when having to scrap my Japan holiday - these are the first papers I thought of!  I was so excited to create this next 'layout' I could not wait to show you....

One for the BOYS!

Hi everyone! Today I am sharing with you a layout I created using the Fancy Pants Designs ‘Be Different’ range. This collection is full of bold patterns, cute monster characters and boyish sentiments…PERFECT for scrapping all those loud, cheeky boys in your life! (Like my own two little monsters!) ;)

This layout took me surprisingly little time. The bold patterns of this collection lend themselves to a more “graphic” style of scrapping, which I found much faster than my usual layer-upon-layer style, and I am really happy with the result.

Love To Shop.... In Tokyo...

Hello

I learnt something new yesterday - the reason why Graphic 45 is called Graphic 45... Do you know why?

In a nutshell - Graphic 45 is a Mother and 2 Daughter team - at the age of 45, the Mother went back to 'school' and studied Graphic Design - hence the name Graphic 45...  Inspiring isn't it?

On some paper designs it is quite clear to see which is the 'main side' and which is the back - on others not as clear.  In this case for my following layouts - I have actually used the other side! (I know this is the other side - as the paper is called "Shanghai Girls" - I have not used the side with the girls on hehe)

Oops, sorry forgot to mention - got side-tracked with my sharing my inspirational 'new knowledge' - I am using Graphic 45 Bird Song Collection - Shanghai Girls for the layouts.

I created these pages side by side - when I create layouts like this - I guess you could call it a double layout - I like to design them so that they can also stand alone if for some reason I need to separate them in my album.  The layout to the left is titled "Love to Shop" and below "In Tokyo" - so they work together as well as alone.

Anpanman (A Japanese Superhero)

Konnichiwa,

Have you heard of Anpanman - ask your children - they probably have!  Anpanman is a Japanese Superhero from a picture book and an animated series who flies around and helps children in need. Anpanman is one of my Daughter's favourite Japanese characters, so when we saw these Anpanman toys in Tokyo - she had to pose for a photo!
