Wow! Aren't the new Graphic 45 papers just gorgeous?! I had a lot of fun making this double layout using the Graphic 45 French Country papers. The colours in this range are definitely "my" colours.
This layout is something I've been looking forward to making for a long time. These are the traditional horses and carts of Sicily which appear on special occasions. The horses are almost completely covered by decorations and the men are in the back dressed in traditional clothes and play music. They truly are special to see. I think the French Country papers are just right for this layout.
Products used:
Step 1 - lightly attach the 2 pieces of backing cardstock using double-sided tape. This is not a permenant attachment and you only need a couple of short pieces....see picture. When you separate the pages, these tape pieces will remain, but you won't see them as they're on the back :)
The idea is you will be working the 2 pages as 1 page.
Step 4 - Distress, glue things down and then embellish!
As you might be able to tell by now, I hate straight edges. I need to rough up the edges by distressing, tearing or inking. It gives me a lot of satisfaction!
Step 5 - Carefully separate the 2 pages by cutting through the tape and the overlapping pattern paper.
It took me ages to work out how to do this Paper String...it's been glued at strategic places and I don't know if there's an easy way to do this, but I always seem to have trouble. I need at least another hand or two when playing with string...however I love how it looks now it's finished.

Step 2 - Flip the card over so the tape is on the back. Begin layering your paper. I like to have a piece of pattern paper which overlaps the 2 pages so that if you re-align the 2 pages later you can see they were originally 1. In the example here, there are 3 strips of 12x2.5" pieces of cardstock plus the square striped piece is 7x7". They are all joined together to form 1 long piece which is then stuck down across the 2 pages. At this stage you are working the 2 pages as 1.
Step 3 - Layer your pieces of cardstock until you are happy - sit your photos on top from time to time until it's just right. I originally took this photo so that I could look back on it as I started gluing things down.

These American Crafts Thickers are great - these were originally white cloth and have been inked with Distress Stains and then sprayed with Red Lobster Glimmer Mist. Not sparkly, but the red shows through nicely and matches the Feathers on the horse's plumage.
I love buttons!!! I don't know what it is, but I just love them...and never seem to have enough! Mixed with Prima Flowers I think they look realy great.
